Finland has changed in many ways since the National Forum for Cooperation of Religions (CORE) was founded. Our country has become even more multicultural and religions more visible in people’s everyday lives. The purpose of the CORE Forum – fostering peace in Finnish society – has gained strong substance: social peace can no longer be taken for granted.
In 2016 the contacts with authorities increased. The CORE Forum was invited as a member to several advisory boards and working groups and was requested to provide its opinion on projects under development. A round table meeting with the theme “Religions against societal confrontation and polarisation” was organised with the Ministry of the Interior.
Sufficient financial resources are required for effective operations. In late 2016 a general discretionary government transfer totalling 20 000 euros was granted by the government to the CORE Forum.
